Jordan’s Dodge Ram 2500

Comments (0) Featured, Product Reviews

Jordan Godkin of Midland, Ontario, considers his Dodge Ram 2500 his pride and joy, and he loves that he can give some joy and excitement to others too. While some people ask him why he’s modified his truck in this way, he says others (children especially) go crazy because it’s something they haven’t seen before—a mini-monster truck.

Jordan, how did you become a gearhead?

I wasn’t really involved in the automotive world until I was 23. I had uncles who owned car shops that I would do little things here and there, but I didn’t have the ambition to learn more. What really got me started was blowing up my 2006 2.0-liter turbo Volkswagen Jetta. Due to failure in my timing chain, it exploded the housing and put a piston into the cam. After that, I began to want to learn more about any and everything that had to do with vehicles. I’m 26 now and still love to learn!

Tell us more about your Ram 2500 – what’s going on under the hood?

I drive a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9-liter Cummins. This build started with me needing a work truck, and then one thing led to another. Some of my upgrades include: an S&B cold air intake; CTS2 edge tuner; Rough Country 5-inch long arm lift; MBRP 4-inch turbo back exhaust with a 4–6” exhaust tip; and a carbon fiber double scoop hood. His 33” Toyo Open Country tires are wrapped around 22” moto metal buckshot rims.

What are your favourite upgrades? What are you planning on upgrading next?

My favorite modification is the upgraded Mopar steering linkage with the Rough Country stabilizers and steering box brace. Along the way, my motivation behind this build (this is my third vehicle I’ve worked on) has been having fun and learning along the way.

What I have planned next:

  • Upgraded transmission
  • 80 over injectors
  • FASS fuel system
  • 80 mm turbo
  • Traction bars and steel front and back bumpers

I’d  like to give a shout out and thanks to atmosfera.kherson my guy Jordan for locating my beautiful beast; TDot Performance; Joel at Redline; and Adam at Huronia Auto Glass!

We love hearing about your mini-monster truck build! Thank you for sharing!

Jim’s Corvette Roadster

Comments (0) Featured, Product Reviews

Jim Messner lives in Cochrane, Alberta, just outside of Calgary. His C6 Corvette Roadster is his retirement car, and he and his wife love taking their convertible on road trips. Next up: cruising with thousands of other Corvette owners for the National Corvette Caravan, all the way to Bowling Green, Kentucky, the home of the Corvette factory and museum.

Jim, how did you become a gearhead?

I got started with cars because my grandfather was into cars. I guess you could say it’s in our genes! My motivation is that I’ve owned special interest and fast cars all of my life. I raced stock cars most of my adult life and dabbled in drag racing a bit too back in the ’70s.

Tell us more about your Corvette Roadster – what’s going on under the hood?

My 2007 C6 Corvette Roadster has a 6.0-liter engine with 400 hp and 400 ft. lbs. of torque. So far, the mods I’ve done include a Vararam cold air intake and a Corsa cat back exhaust system. Inside, I had the gray interior console parts hydro-dipped to look like carbon fiber.

Although I haven’t entered the Corvette into any formal car shows yet, I go to quite a few car meets and hot rod nights around Calgary.

What are your favourite upgrades? What are you planning on upgrading next?

So far my favorite upgrade is the Corsa exhaust. The factory exhaust was too quiet! I’m planning on more upgrades and it will only be a matter of time before I purchase from TDot. I like that it’s a Canadian company with FREE shipping—makes it so much easier on us car guys!

Some of the next little mods coming up are LED lighting, backup and front-end cameras to avoid damage when parking because this car is really low. I’m also looking to add more hydrographics such as carbon fiber engine covers, a new radar detector (this car does NOT want to do the speed limit for some crazy reason!), and then headers and a new lumpy camshaft. Who knows where it will end?

We love your Corvette Roadster! Thanks for sharing your ride with us!

Ryan’s Subaru WRX

Comments (0) Featured, Product Reviews

Ryan Khan from Toronto gives us a sneak peek into his award-winning 2004 Subaru WRX with a V-7 STI conversion. Ryan’s beauty has been transformed to go from street to track, with multiple titles to show for it. His Subaru has won numerous first and second place prizes at the Canadian Sport and Compact Series (CSCS) Show & Shine competition, as well as first place for Best Subaru at the Wheels On The Danforth show.

Ryan, how did you become a gearhead?

I started with a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. I learned a lot just taking that car apart and putting it back together and fell in love with the all-wheel-drive aspect.

My car is an extension of me. I built it to how I want it and I didn’t let anyone else Influence my build. Growing up I always wanted to get into Time Attack racing, so I decided to build my car around that dream.

As for the exterior of my Subaru, I chose to go with a custom BMW steel gray paint color, JDM STI rear and front bumpers, a polyurethane front lip, and a Sebion fiberglass hood with a reverse hood scoop.

Tell us more about your WRX  – what’s going on under the hood?

The engine is a EJ207 JDM swap—a V-7 that is currently pro-tuned, getting 400 hp and 380 ft. lbs. of torque with no methanol, and 449 hp and 390 ft. lbs. of torque with a 60/40 mix. With a few more tweaks, I’ll be close to my goal of 500 hp.

Other additions include:

  • Short Block: Manley extreme duty 2.2 Stroker pistons, Manley H Tuff rods, Darton sleeves, ACL race bearings, etc.
  • Heads: GSC Super Alloy Exhaust valves, Beehive titanium springs; titanium retainers, etc.
  • Exhaust: Invidia big tube race headers, Forced Performance Green Series stock location turbo, etc.
  • Cooling: CSF Aluminum Radwith oil cooler; Aquamist meth injection system; etc.
  • Fuel: 1000cc injectors; Walbro 450 pump, parallel fuel line setup
  • Brakes: full STI Brembo conversion, stainless steel brake lines, etc.

What are your favourite upgrades? What are you planning on upgrading next?

I don’t have a favourite upgrade. Each upgrade was for a reason—either to make it handle better or to make it faster and more efficient on the track.

I’m looking to invest in better coilovers to improve handling on the track. I’m also considering an even bigger brake kit and two-piece rotors to lighten up the car and for heat distribution.

We love hearing about your power-boost upgrades—what a ride! Thanks for sharing!
