Bob Fowler of Victoria Harbour, Ontario, credits love as his motivation to modify his Jeep. He upped the
performance and the exterior for his wife, who loves nothing more than spending weekends off-roading
together in their rugged SUV. Read on to find out more about the incredible job he’s done.
Bob, how did you become a gearhead?
I got started with modifying my Jeep by looking at what was already out there in the aftermarket, and
especially checking out what others were doing. Then, I began adding my own take and ideas to my ride.
I love driving my Jeep Sahara every now and then, and it’s been great to see other Jeep enthusiasts
admiring it. We are working on putting it on display at car shows in the next year or so.
Tell us more about your Jeep - what’s going on under the hood?
The stock model of 2014 Jeep Sahara Unlimited JK is powered by a Pentastar 3.6-liter V6, which
produces 285 hp and 260 ft lbs. of torque. To make it more suitable for our off-roading adventures, I
added a 2 1⁄2-inch Teraflex lift and Teraflex front and rear monster track bars, as well as a Rough Country
Front Winch bumper paired with Smittybilt Winch with a synthetic rope that can carry a 9,500-lb. load
capacity.
Our Goodyear DuraTrac 17-inch tires and Rugged Ridge wheels and rim protectors give the Jeep the
durability it needs to get through the rough terrain. Smittybilt Limb Risers help protect our windshield
from stray rocks and debris and Xprite LED lights in the front and back give us good visibility at night.
What are your favourite upgrades? What are you planning on upgrading next?
The Cobra CB radio is great for my wife and I to listen to our favourite music as we travel through the
open terrain. I purchased my AMP PowerSteps from TDot Performance and am still considering what I
want to upgrade next.
